Southwater III   4 - 2  Capel Res
Nash
Lovett 2
Passfield

Southwater Thirds got off to a great start to the season, with a win over a good Capel Reserve team.
After conceding an early goal, the home side settled down and took control of the game and began to dominate in each area of the pitch, which finally paid off when new signing Steve Nash headed home on 12 minutes.
Toby Lovett got the second, taking the ball wide and shooting across the keeper.
Passfield increased the lead with a thunderbolt from the edge of the area.

A closer second half saw Lovett grab his second after cleverly using the wind to curl a free-kick destined for the far-post just inside the near-post.
Capel did manage to increase their tally when they netted again on 75 minutes, with one of the few chances they managed to create.
Some hard work from the team in all areas of the pitch meant that Capel never had the chance to settle on the ball and the final score remained 4-2.

A great start to the season - Well done lads.

MOM- Steve Nash & Toby Lovett

View Article  Football: Dad's & Players return to Koln

Mission Accomplished - 18 made it out to Koln & 18 made it back !

Memory is a little shakey, but I think it went something like this...........

Sat:
- Flight delayed, not a problem - watched Soccer AM in the bar.
- Greg didn't have his "permission to tour letter" from Nicola !!!!!  EasyJet charge £1.60 for a "coffee", but apparently they do replacement "permission to tour letters" free of charge....excellent.
- Finally get to Koln and visit Fruh for dinner & kolsch (http://www.frueh.de/main.html)
- Then some watch the footy at the Irish pub and some go to Peter's Brauhaus (http://www.peters-brauhaus.de/)
- From Peter's to Rembrants (?).
- From Rembrants to Papa Joes Jazz barr (http://www.papajoes.de/)
- Remainder of team retreived from the Irish Bar and off we went to Max Paffgen's (http://www.max-paeffgen.de/paeffgen/index-e.html)
- Roger hugs a tree (click here for advice on Holistic healing and how to hug a tree)
- Pete and hotel barman discuss the nutritional benefits of a 'Subway'.

Sun:
- Ouch. Consensus of opinion is that envelope with match ticket, booking info and guide map should have also include some nurofen.
- Up to the top of the cathedral for some, breakfast a Fruh for some and fatboy breakfast at Irish pub for others.
- Go to match. (click here for more info.)
- Koln win 4-1. Excellent decision to come to the match.
- Back to Irish Bar after game. More nurofen for others.
- Ate in Peter's.
- Went to other Papa Joes bar.
- Back to Irish bar.
- More kolsch in bar on way back to hotel.

Mon:
- All very relaxed. Some lads decide to hang on for midday to have breakfast only to find that the Irish Pub don't do breakfasts during the week !!  Peanuts and crisps didn't seem to do the trick.
- Not really 100% sure on order of events as some shopping was involved as were some trips to the top of the Dom for those who hadn't done it.
- The beginning of the end........Haxenhaus (http://www.haxenhaus.de/)
- A few metres of sausage and a few metres of kolsch later and some of the guys went to get one last taster of the best kolsch we'd had that weekend at Peter's and Fruh.
- Last couple at the hotel.
- Taxi to airport.
- Plane, train, automobile...................home !

Keep posted for any updates........................................

Southwater 5 (G Parsons, A Harding 2, A Gibson 2)
Yapton 1

Southwater continued their push for promotion with a comfortable 5-1 win against league strugglers Yapton.
Southwater strolled into a 3-0 lead within the opening 15 mins.
Gary Parsons opened the scoring volleying home from 6 yards.
Man of the match Alex Harding then got a brace, firstly heading home from a Chris Bellison corner then, taking a free-kick from 25 yards out, he powerfully struck the ball straight into the far corner to make it 12 goals for the season so far for the midfield maestro.
The game went flat for the next 45 mins & the visitors pulled a goal back.
Manager Mark Hyde then took immediate action by making 3 quick substitutions & Ashley Gibson responded by scoring two absolutely stunning goals to secure the points.
